Dr. Rick Michael

Dr. Rick Michael was born and raised in Shreveport, leaving after graduation from Loyola College Prep to attend Texas A&M University. After graduation from Texas A&M, he received his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He then moved to Nashville, TN to complete a combined residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Once he completed his combined residency, he served an extra year as the Chief Resident in Ambulatory Internal Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Dr. Michael moved back to Shreveport in 2002. Before assuming the reigns of SureAccess MD, LLC from Dr. Emma McCarty in May of 2015, he practiced in a variety of settings including private practice and hospital medicine in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics as well as urgent care with Velocity Care Urgent Treatment Centers. His practice philosophy is simple and encompasses his desire to treat all patients as he would want his own family treated and to consistently study both the history and the cutting edge of the discipline of medicine. He is currently Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. He is active in organized medicine and served as the President of the Shreveport Medical Society for the term of 2013-2014. He is also active in the community and has served or currently serves on several Boards of Directors outside of the field of medicine.

Foremost among the many blessings in his life are his wife, Kristi, a local Obstetrician & Gynecologist, and his two daughters. He loves participating in his family's activities and hobbies and is a passionate traveler with his family. His personal interests otherwise include running, triathlons, reading, tennis, and golf.

Dr. Steen Trawick, Jr.

Dr. Steen Trawick, Jr., is a Board-Certified Internal Medicine physician in the Shreveport-Bossier community for over 22 years. Dr. Trawick joined SureAccess MD in September of 2024 after his previous role of Chief Executive Officer and Chief Medical Officer of CHRISTUS Shreveport-Bossier Health System for 4.5 years. In this role, he was responsible for over 1300 associates working at CHRISTUS Highland, CHRISTUS Bossier Emergency Hospital, CHRISTUS Coushatta Rural Health Care Center, along with 500+ members of Medical Staff, over 150 volunteers.

Dr. Trawick has served as past President of the Shreveport Medical Society and is currently Speaker of the House of Delegates for the Louisiana State Medical Society. Dr. Trawick is also a former member of LSU Board of Supervisors and Louisiana State Board of Regents, and enjoys an active role in the community as an Honorary Commander of the 2nd Medical Group at Barksdale AFB, a member of the Shreveport-Bossier Committee of One Hundred and Rotary Club of Shreveport, and a Sunday school teacher and Chairman of the Finance Committee at Summer Grove Baptist Church. He is the Medical Director for the Physician Assistant program at LSU Health Shreveport and last year was the Chairman for the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women event. Dr. Trawick is an Eagle Scout and former Scoutmaster of Troop 18, where his son, Graham, earned his Eagle Scout too. He currently serves as an executive board member for the Norwella Council of the BSA.

In addition to practicing medicine at SureAccess MD, he is currently serving as Interim CMO for David Raines Community Health Centers, an FQHC in Northwest Louisiana

He is a 1987 graduate of Ouachita Parish High School in Monroe, LA and 1991 Biological Science graduate of LA Tech University where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and served 1 ½ years as president. While at Louisiana Tech, he was an orientation student leader and served as a Student Government Association Cabinet member. He currently serves Louisiana Tech University as a member of the Foundation Board of Directors.

Dr. Trawick and his wife, Ronda have two children. Allison Grace graduated from Baylor University and is a sophomore medical student at LSU Health Shreveport and Graham is in Pre-Health Studies, with aspirations to be a Physical Therapist, at Baylor University. When he's not working, Dr. Trawick can be found spending time with his family at the lake, flying airplanes, running the roads of southeast Shreveport before dawn, or cheering on the Baylor Bears or Tech Bulldogs.

Dr. Paul Guidry

Dr. Paul Guidry was born and raised in Natchitoches, LA. He graduated from Natchitoches Central High School and went on to attend Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Dr. Guidry returned to North Louisiana to attend medical school at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center-Shreveport. Upon completion of medical school, he trained at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center in Memphis where he completed a combined residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and served as chief resident in the last year of his four-year residency.

After completing residency, Dr. Guidry returned to Shreveport and practiced as a hospitalist with Willis Knighton - Bossier Hospitalist Group for nearly seven years, serving as Medical Director of the group for the past two years.

Dr. Guidry has also been very involved in the post-acute areas of medicine, including nursing home services and inpatient rehabilitation. He has developed a special interest in end-of-life care and is active as the Medical Director for a local hospice company. Over the course of his career, Dr. Guidry has served on multiple administrative boards in these areas of medicine.

Dr. Guidry is married to his wife, Catherine, and they have been blessed with two children: Thomas and Camille. As one of triplets, Dr. Guidry loves spending time with his close-knit family and also enjoys running, traveling, being outdoors, and LSU football. He and his family are active members of St. Marks Cathedral.

Lauren Scheffy, PA-C

Lauren Scheffy, PA-C, was born and raised in Baton Rouge, LA. She graduated from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge in 2000. After graduation she moved to Shreveport to attend Physician Assistant school at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center-Shreveport and graduated in 2004. Lauren had worked as a PA in hematology and oncology for over 18 years. She is ready to serve the SureAccess MD patients and support Dr. Rick Michael and Dr. Paul Guidry with concierge medicine.

Lauren enjoys helping patients on their wellness journey, and her primary focus is to build personal relationships with each patient. She has a passion for health and fitness and that passion shines through in her interactions with patients.

Lauren is married to Cy Scheffy, and they have two children, Cy and Emily. As a family they enjoy going to Baton Rouge to watch the Tigers play during football season. Lauren also enjoys working out, cooking, and watching her son play football and her daughter chee
